Hip Hop legend Rakim made a rare public appearance at the NFL draft party for Braylon Edwards. Rakim blessed a frenzied crowd with a number of classics from Don’t Sweat The Technique, Let the Rhythm Hit Em, and Paid in Full. Edwards also joined The God on stage to shout out Detroit and thank the fans.

Rakim: You know I go love for Detroit, I just wanted to come out and celebrate with Braylon and wish him much success on his career. We having a good time.
Edwards, the third pick overall in this year’s NFL draft, hosted the star-studded event in downtown Detroit to celebrate his new career with the Cleveland Browns.

We all know you’ve got love for Detroit, what do you have lined up for Cleveland?
Braylon: That’s my new city you know, so everything I got I gotta give to them. Detroit is my home, but I’m looking forward to giving all my energy to them (Cleveland).
The red carpet affair was hosted by BET‘s Infamous Mad Linx, with celebrity attendees LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers; hit record producer, So So Def’s & Virgin Urban Prez, Jermaine Dupri; All Of Us television actress, Lisa Raye; actress Meghan Goode; Eddie George, Dallas Cowboys; Charles Woodson of the Oakland Raiders; and Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton of the Detroit Pistons, among others.
The star-studded event was held in the Renaissance Center inside the GM Building in downtown Detroit as part of a Father’s Day Weekend Celebration honoring prominent male leaders in the Detroit Area.
