Wale “The Album About Nothing” & Ludacris “Ludaversal” First Week Sales Projections

According to Hits Daily Double, Wale’s The Album About Nothing will serve as the standout this week with an estimated 85,000 – 90,000 units sold. The number places the D.C. rapper above albums from both Ludacris and Kendrick Lamar.

The Album About Nothing serves as Wale’s fourth studio album and includes guest appearances from J. Cole, SZA, Usher, and Stokley Williams.

Wale recently spoke with HipHopDX about putting his “best foot forward” with his latest studio release.

“I always put my best foot forward,” Wale said. “I won’t put it out until I know it’s better than the last…It’s always a pleasure when your album drop and it’s being received as well as it is.”

Behind Wale, with an estimated 55,000 – 60,000 units sold is Atlanta, Georgia rapper Ludacris with his long-awaited, ninth studio album, Ludaversal.

The album received a 3-star rating from HipHopDX and was described as being “a novel and welcome addition to” the rapper’s catalog.

And after moving between 300,000 and 325,000 units of To Pimp A Butterfly last week, Kendrick Lamar is also set to sell between 55,000 to 60,000 units this week.

    1. Luda is that dude! I’m not sure why people don’t give him that props. Me and my dude squeeky, been bumping Luda since the crunk era came through and crush the buildings. Wale is a herb, me and my boys from the squad ran up on him outside of the iHop and made him run the pancakes. That’s how gully we role, ya HEARD! Don’t mess with the boys from Self Service, GA, we run up and clap all fake rappers like vanilla swirl. Squad up my snitches!!!

    2. wale flopping hardbody wishing he was drake, kendrick and cole, but at least he sold better than his boss the fraud

    3. Kendrick didn’t do 300k+ last week, that was his FIRST WEEK SALES (he did 100k+ last week). (Source: HIPHOPDX!)

      1. Kendrick did do 300K+ last week, which was his first week. He did 100K on the second week, which is this week.

      2. Either way, in a climate where a side album from drake can nearly go gold in its first week, Dumbo’s album is a huge flop.

      3. ^ In a climate where most rappers can barely sell 200K total, Kendrick’s album is a major success, not a flop. A flop would have been if he had done Wale numbers.

    4. 90k ppl gon hand over money for a wale album SMFH hiphop fans these days are fuck-boys…….whatever I know when the real shit drops ya’ll be lost

      1. Have you listened through Wale’s album or are you judging him because of the popular song he did years back with Waka Flaka. THis album is hot a f

    5. So Dan, if Kendrick selling 300K+ is a huge flop (which is not), then Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa, Wale, Meek Mill, French Montana, Rae Sremmurd, etc., are mega titantic flops since they sold less in their first week.

      1. Kendrick is a hip-hop artist, too, he’s more hip-hop than the other artists named. None of his music is pop, his newest album mixes hip-hop with funk, soul, and jazz and has no poppy crap like albums from the other artists.

      2. Kendrick is being humble in not calling his album a classic yet. There is nothing that indicates him thinking his album is shit. You got rappers claiming their albums are classics when they’re really shit.

      3. That’s because people ARE calling those rapper’s albums classics that they agree. Kendrick knows it shit but its not stopping a bunch of delusionals to call this failed poetry of an album classic.

      4. Nobody is calling those other rappers’ shitty albums classics, these rappers are just talking out their ass. And no, Kendrick knows his album is dope, not shit, but he doesn’t want to be a jackass. Everyone has praised Kendrick’s album for a reason, because it’s amazing, not failed poetry.

    6. Wale’s album sales projections are a result of his last work. The Gifted. But this album though is pretty fuckin good. I don’t know why yall trippin though

      1. ^ Nope. They never project first day sales, just weekly sales. It’s impossible for Wale to sell 90K in the first day.

      2. I agree. I love wale’s new album. I’ve always been a fan, but this album is the first one that seems super cohesive and not one track is filler.

    7. Damn.. Luda only pushing 60,000 and he got a popular movie out..oh well..i wasn’t too impressed b Luda’s 2 singles he has out..
