The former boyfriend of female rapper Lil’ Kim went to trial this past Wednesday (April 1), a decade after getting indicted, for his role in string of executions and other violent crimes, according to the New York Daily News.
Drug kingpin Damion “World” Hardy faces various charges including the ordering of six murders, ranging from the 1998 assassination of a bouncer in a Brooklyn roller skating center to the 2003 killing of a former Mike Tyson bodyguard.
“He handed out death sentences with a simple line: ‘He has to go,’” prosecutor Rena Paul said during the opening statements in Brooklyn Federal Court. “World’s order was to kill on sight.”
According to the publication, Hardy allegedly founded the Cash Money Brothers gang that ruled over the Lafayette Gardens complex in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn.

In his defense, Hardy’s current lawyer David Ruhnke said that the entire case is based on the words of cooperating witnesses — criminals “who laughed at society’s rules their whole lives” and cannot be trusted, he reportedly told the jury.
In a story published by the New York Daily Times last week, Hardy, who has been labeled as a “paranoid schizophrenic,” has reportedly been attempting to contact Lil’ Kim and fellow female artist Foxy Brown to ask for money so he can hire high-powered lawyer Benjamin Brafman to represent him.
