The business behind Wu-Tang Clan’s first solo albums is well documented but the ordering of how they were released is a little more ambiguous.
Recently Raekwon spoke with Day 1 Radio about how the albums were released and the reasoning behind the order of how they were dropped. The Staten Island emcee says it was mostly up to the people.
“At that time I was already off to the races,” he said. “It was already designed for that but one thing about us was we wanted the people to call out who they wanted to hear an album from. [It wasn’t] like I had to write an album because I was supposed to come out now. Nah, people was like, ‘We want this nigga’s shit now.'”

Raekwon also explained the delay of his forthcoming album, Fly International Luxurious Art.
“It was tentatively [supposed] to come out last year and it clashed with the Wu-Tang project,” Raekwon explained. “It just took a little second for me to get it tight though but when I was ready to release it I couldn’t release it on top of what my brothers was doing at the time so I just pushed it back.”
Raekwon is slated to release F.I.L.A. on April 28.
