Following up their critically acclaimed Blazing Arrow, Blackalicious will release their 5th studio album on Epitaph imprint Anti titled The Craft. Bay area’s Gift of Gab and Cheif Xcel will once again infuse the power of soul into hip-hop with this September 27th release and try to improve on the 229,000 unit selling Blazing Arrow.
“I don’t know how people are going to react,” Blackalicious’ Gift Of Gab told Billboard.com last year as the duo was in the studio. “We’re really not trippin’ on this album. We just really want to explore what it is to be an artist. We want to do hip-hop; it’s always going to be hip-hop, but we thought, what if we did some rock sh*t? Or sh*t like the Beatles or Jimi Hendrix? What would it sound like?“
The first single from the album will be “Powers” while “Rhythm Sticks” will be available this summer on 12-inch vinyl. The album will feature the likes of Floetry, George Clinton, Pigeon John, Lateef and Lyrics Born.
