A few weeks ago, it had been announced that Cipha Sounds was leaving Hot 97 for something else. He hit up Instagram to announce his departure from the New York radio station at the time.

“After 17 years, I’m leaving Hot 97,” Cipha captioned in the post. “I’m changing my relationship status from ‘it’s complicated’ to ‘single’. It’s been an amazing ride – from intern to weekends to morning show host to fill Angie’s seat in afternoons. Many years of incredible, life-changing experiences and enough amazing memories to last five lifetimes. The next move is already underway and I promise it’s going to be huge. Follow me at @ciphasounds.”

Cipha Sounds becomes the third person to leave Hot 97 within the last year. Angie Martinez and Mister Cee are the other two former members of the station.
