Jas Prince Files Suit Against Cash Money Records Over Unpaid Drake Royalties

Two years after filing suit against Drake’s management team for a breach of settlement agreement and owed money for introducing the rapper to the label, Jas Prince is now reportedly taking aim at Cash Money and Birdman directly in a new legal battle.

More than a month into the label’s current implosion, Prince, whose father J. Prince made his own headlines with public threats for Cash Money, Suge Knight, and Diddy over their place in the Toronto rapper’s career last week, has filed legal documents requesting the label make public its earnings from Drake’s career up to this point, according to TMZ. While he claims that the label has made as much as $40 million off the deal, Jas Prince says he’s only received $2 million for his role in Drake’s Cash Money signing and subsequent commercial success.

Prince’s latest legal tactic comes less than a month after news broke of Lil Wayne’s $51 million lawsuit against Cash Money in January. Shortly after, former Hot Boys rapper Turk announced his own $1.3 million suit against the label.

      1. I hate what the South does to hip hop, so I’m kinda glad this is all happening. However, Young Thug or Migos being “knocked off” would make things better too if Cash Money doesn’t go under.

    1. How the fuck is this nigga owed shit? Unless was drakes manager or some shit like that. Just cause you bring somebody to a labels attention aint mean you payin for their studio time, promo shit, shows… this nigga would be homeless if j prince wasnt his daddy

      1. It was a street deal where you shake hands, which usually doesn’t work in that industry, but as you said in your post, except for who his daddy is. Therefore, the Williams brothers are going to have to get right with this one or J. Prince Sr. will tag that ass. Notice he’s not suing Republic Records, just Cash Money.

      2. I don’t belee you either silent, lol. One thing I do know, y’all gonna find out real soon how Cash Money ain’t Drake’s real label.

      3. @Richard Dale,

You don’t need tot ell me. I’ve been on here the last few days trying to put people up on game. Drake is signed straight to Republic, which absorbed Universal Motown and he didn’t sign a 360. The Cash Money/Young Money thing is more of a business/branding arrangement that they did when he got his buzz from the Lil Wayne co-sign at the time, and he’s riding it out. That’s why Jas is suing the Williams brothers and not Republic or even Drake.

    2. Drake has so many people in his pockets. Lil Wayne, Jas Prince, J. Prince, Birdman, Slim, Universal, Republic, Warner Bros…Damn Drake is going to be broke in the end. I’m not impressed

      1. Nope. He has his own P&D deal with warner so they aint in his pockets like that. He has his own artists. Plus the show money is all his. But i doubt he gettin any kind of royalties. I thought he fired cortez bryant as his manager. or was it someone else.

      2. bruh they all up in his pockets thats what this whole mess is about. weezy and jas prince aint get their cut from Birdman and Slim

      3. How do you know what his P&D deal is, what he’s getting from his artists, his show net, but don’t know his managerial biz? lol you played yourself.
