Erykah Badu & Azealia Banks Beef On Twitter

Just over a month after she tore into Kendrick Lamar over comments the rapper made regarding Michael Brown’s death, Azealia Banks is making news yet again for another conflict on Twitter.

After a fan asked Erykah Badu on Twitter if she listens to Azealia Banks’ music, Banks lashed out at the R&B singer when she replied that she had “tried.”

Banks quickly asked, “what’s the shade?” before offering herself that Badu might be jealous. The Broke With Expensive Taste rapper went on to chide Badu for growing old and “[throwing] shade at younger spirits.”

Badu noticeably turned on location tracking with her subsequent Tweet replies to Banks and went on to Tweet a picture of herself alongside Rihanna, apparently nixing Banks’ idea that she was simply at odds with younger artists.

    Read the full back-and-forth below:

Shortly after, Banks took aim at a Billboard Senior Editor who made light of the Twitter tiff.

    1. That ain’t beef… Biggie knew what beef is.

What’s beef? Beef is when you need 2 Gats to go to sleep
Beef is when your moms ain’t safe up in the streets
Beef is when I see you
Guaranteed to be in ICU, one more time
What’s beef? Beef is when you make your enemies start your Jeep
Beef is when you roll no less than 30 deep

    2. Still haven’t heard this broad’s music. Nah I’m not going to google it. If you don’t get national airplay, its not worth finding for me. This hoe needs to be in regular radio rotation before you step to Erykah Badu! LAME…..

      1. So what you’re saying is that you need the radio to tell you what to like instead of making your own mind up. Right gotcha.

      2. its the fact she is always on sites and radio because of what she said.not because of her music. Her work does not speak for itself. IJS

    3. That vile troll went after Erykah Badu, legend, and Erica Ramirez, the smart & sweet editor of Billboard’s The Juice. I have never hated an ‘artist’ more than A. Banks. Also her music is garbage. I’m tired to read about her.

      1. Badu makes soul music not hip hop. And Badu a few years ago started a fake twitter beef. So wouldn’t be surprised if these two collaborated to create a fake twitter beef.

    4. I don’t like azealia either. maybe she’s mad when people don’t like her. smh. she is outspoken though damn…that doesn’t help her talent at all though.

    5. she should write a book on how to end your career before it even starts. bitch will be doing full on porn by the time shes 25

    6. this lil dumb bitch just need to die already… she a bitter ass hypocrite who makes horrid music, and is only known for talking shit on twitter…and the fact she did a nude playboy shoot…way to uplift the youth…talk shit, pose nude for Hugh Hefner…she goin nowhere fast

    7. Do you all pay attention to anything? All Azelia did was ask Badu a question after she commented on her music. Hip Hop DX and other blogs turned it into ‘beef’.

      1. read them tweets again bruh. she aint just ask her a question. she also accused her of being jealous. told her to shave her underarms and keep “greating her scalp”, called her an old lady all because she said she couldn’t get into her tunes.

      2. I know your not this stupid. Banks went out of her way to disrespect Badu just because she said she “tried” to listen to her music… Hell, at least the chick tried..

she wishes she had 1/4 the fan base Badu has.

    8. DEAR BLACK PEOPLE. I TOLD YOU. i told you this bitch azelia banks acting all crazy had nothing, NOTHING to do with black/white issues or civil rights or anything of that sort. i told you this bitch just starts fights everywhere she goes. i told you this bitch is all about getting attention.

watch. this bitch gonna join the ku klux fucking klan just to get the headlines. this bitch has no substance, has no real arguments on anything. this bitch will fuck herself with a ten foot poll just to get on blogs. I TOLD YOU. you motherfuckers tried to make hero out of her, like she’s some modern day rosa parks or some shit.

      GET.THE.FUCK.OUTTA.HERE.

      1. DEAR WHITEBREAD, you ain’t telling us nothing we ain’t already know, that’s why she ain’t hot, ain’t popping, & on Twitter so STFU and sit yo lame ass down acting like you spreading some news that’ll change the world lmmfao

      2. Says the guy who loves and respects our culture so much 🙂 you check for our culture on the daily, son!

      3. Exactly family, stop thinking those weirdos have the best interests of the genre in mind. Like how you gonna think one gonna respect a culture when they have none. they spend their time trying to assimilate all cultures to try and identify self.

      4. Your culture? You take that piece of shit culture and shove it up your arse. Take all your degenerate culture and leave the civilised culture alone if you want to. I don’t think you even know what culture you are partaking in, it just isn’t the delinquent hip-hop music you are listening to. Culture, you’re about as cultured as a plastic spork.

    9. I have not heard any of her music.. and to honest, I am not going to go out of my way to check it out. This woman is an a-hole and doesn’t deserve shine for being one.

    10. so far shes been sonned by T.I.,T.I.’s wifey, Iggy Azalea, Erykah Badu, Lupe Fiasco, that dj who made the “Harlem Shake” song, theres more i know im forgetting

    11. shiit… banks be getting pissy for literally no reason, not everyone likes your shit, she needs to chill the fuck down

    12. I love how Badu took the time out of her busy day to comment on that Banks tweet to make a public response! She let it be known publically that she don’t fuck w/ her music so as a professional she knew what she was doing and knew the gravity of the response. I think she was very concious of the situation and Banks as an black female artist wanted to feel like she had the support of her counterpart (prolly someone she looked up to). Instead it was met w/ public scrutiny. Let’s be real here, Azaelia makes some cool stuff so to say “she tried” meaning she couldn’t find one project from Banks she liked which is mind boggling. I do empathize w/ Banks, people be so quick to take sides, instigate, and get caught up in the bullshit.

    13. I like Azealia and totally support her shi%t but she’s gotta let it go. Have some respect for the Badu queen yo !
