With the fate of Lil Wayne’sTha Carter V still up in the air, HipHopDX caught up with Weezy’s longtime producer Mannie Fresh to ask him about the album at this weekend’s annual BMI “How I Wrote That Song” panel in Hollywood.

Confirming that he’s got production credits on the tracklist, the former Cash Money Records in-house producer joked about hoping for its release so he can get a royalty check.

“I hope it comes out,” he said in a clip that debuted as a part of today’s DX Daily. “I got a couple of songs on it. It’s a big royalty check. Mama want another house.”

During the event itself, Fresh praised Wayne on stage and spoke separately about the Carter rapper’s status with Cash Money, a label he himself has been estranged from since 2005.

“He was always the first one there and the last one to leave, and he had a tablet full of songs,” Fresh said, according to the Associated Press. “This kid is way ahead of himself. Even when he was young, he was four grades up.”

As for Wayne’s next moves, the former Big Tymers producer hinted that the label star has an opportunity to transcend his current status.

“He’s going to get somebody with star power that can bring other people to the table,” he said. “If I did do a song and I got Justin Timberlake on it, I got Justin Timberlake fans as well. I think Wayne is starting to see it in that way. Hip Hop can only bring you so far.”
