One of the most influential hip-hop labels around will soon be no more. According to the New York Post, Priority Records will be merged into the Capitol Records division by the parent company of both, EMI.
EMI bought Priority three years ago for $200 million. The hugely influential label houses artists like Ice Cube and JT Money and distributes super-labels No Limit and Rawkus, as well as Wu-Tang Records.
EMI says that the move will be good for the company, since now Capitol and Priority will be one, and the company will no longer have to duplicate the services of mostly hip-hop based Priority.
