Kanye West will serve as one of a handful of entertainers who will be honored at the 2015 BET Honors. XXLMag.com reports that ‘Ye will be presented with the Visionary Award.

According to the BET Honors website, the Chicago, Illinois rapper will receive the award thanks to his “contributions across the arts.”

Kanye West will be honored for his extraordinary contributions across the arts, including roles as a record producer, rapper, filmmaker and fashion designer. He’s a multifaceted trailblazer and pioneer whose accomplishments are all marked by his unique and forward-thinking approach,” a description on the BET Honors website read.

Other honorees will include singer Usher Raymond, actress Phylicia Rashad, educator Dr. Johnnetta B. Cole, and Microsoft Chairman Virtual Instruments CEO John W. Thompson.

The BET Honors, which will be hosted by Wayne Brady, will air on February 23, 2015 at 9 PM on BET.

News of Kanye’s upcoming honor comes days after an alleged source revealed to Page Six that the lyricist is ready to retire from music.

“After his next [collaboration] with Paul McCartney comes out, he’s going to step away from music and concentrate on clothing…He got a $15 million signing bonus from Adidas, but his line has been pushed back four times because he hasn’t had enough time to work on it,” a source said while speaking with Page Six.
