In a newly released conversation with Montreality, Los Angeles-based crooner Ty Dolla $ign spoke on fellow West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar.
During the interview, Ty Dolla $ign cited Kendrick Lamar as being one of the best emcees today and also briefly discussed his upcoming collaboration with the TDE rapper.
“It’s definitely an anthem,” Ty Dolla $ign says. “It’s definitely heartfelt. It was how I was feeling and Kendrick [Lamar] said as soon as he heard my part on the song it gave him a feeling and then he put his part down. I felt like — he killed that verse [laughs]. For real. So I’m excited about that song. I’m excited about the people hearing it. [Kendrick’s] incredible. Straight up. That’s all I can say. He’s one of the best, for sure. If not the best.”
In an interview released earlier this year, Ty Dolla $ign discussed the nature of his debut album.

“The album’s going to be called Free TC, it’s dedicated to my lil’ bro, all the homies in prison that’s wrongfully imprisoned,” Ty Dolla $ign says. “It’s like a lot of people that end up like that just end up getting twisted and washed so this is basically dedicated to him and I’m going to use the money to get him the greatest lawyer.”
During the same interview, the Taylor Gang singer-songwriter also spoke on some of the features he has lined up for the project.
“It’s going to be crazy,” Ty Dolla $ign said. “So far I got Kendrick [Lamar] on there. I’m definitely going to have the homies on there – YG, Joe Moses, TC, Taylor Gang, you already know and the production’s crazy. It’s going to sound like… When you close your eyes, you’re watching a movie… I get beats from everybody but I produce every single song.”
