With albums from Eminem and Shady Records as well as Rick Ross released at the top of the week, the Hip Hop headlines from the week included an open call-out from Freeway Rick Ross to Rick Ross. Industry insider Wendy Day told a story of how Freddie Foxxx forced Birdman to apologize to her by gunpoint in New York City after not paying for her services at Cash Money. Finally, 50 Cent threw a playful jab on social media at Puff Daddy and his Ciroc vodka with a string of quickly-deleted photos.

Freddie Foxxx Forced Birdman To Apologize At Gunpoint

“At one point, one of my artist friends bumped into Birdman and put a gun to his head and made him call and apologize to me, which he did,” she said. “He [Birdman] called me up and said “oh, your friend just pulled me out of Hot 97 and I’m here on the street, on my knees and I want to apologize to you. I really didn’t care about the apology. I wanted to know, why would somebody shit on someone that changed their life for the better?”

Freeway Rick Ross Calls On Rick Ross To Fight Hip Hop To Prison Pipeline

After MMG founder Rick Ross won a lawsuit granting him legal rights to use the stage name he derived from former drug trafficker Freeway Rick Ross earlier this year, the Los Angeles author recently called on the rapper to help fight what he calls a “Hip Hop to prison pipeline.”

“Let’s fight this culture,” he said in a video, speaking openly to Rick Ross. “Let’s fight this penitentiary culture that Hip Hop’s been spreading. Let’s make a difference. Me and you need to come together and you need to tell them that you didn’t make your money selling drugs and making music is how you became famous. See, it’s nothing wrong with making music just like it’s nothing wrong with being a correctional officer if that’s what you did. But so many of our friends who look up to you and look up to me are out on the streets thinking that they can go out and sell drugs and parlay that into a record career. I don’t know if you know that they’re not gonna make it, but I know that they’re gonna wind up in prison with prison sentences three and four times what they should be because this war on drugs is no joke.”
