TMZ reports that Sugarhill Gang rapper Big Bank Hank, real name Henry Jackson, has passed away at the age of 57.
According to TMZ, Jackson was suffering from cancer when he passed away early Tuesday (November 11) morning.
“So sad to hear of our brother’s passing. Rest in peace Big Bank,” Sugarhill Gang members Wonder Mike and Master Gee said while speaking with TMZ.
As a member of the Sugarhill Gang, Jackson was a part of one of the most iconic groups in Hip Hop. The Sugarhill Gang quickly shot to fame with the release of their 1979 record, “Rapper’s Delight.”
On the second verse of “Rapper’s Delight,” Jackson famously raps: “Everybody go: Hotel, motel, Holiday Inn / You see, if your girl starts acting up, then you take her friend.”
