Complex has produced two videos that present arguments about whether Jay Z or Nas is better.
The “Jay Z vs. Nas: 10 Reasons Jay Z is Better” video includes the argument that Jay Z has more #1 albums than Nas. Another argument in the Complex piece is that Jay Z is a better businessman.
The “Jay Z vs. Nas: 10 Reasons Nas is Better” video says that Nas is better because his early releases “sparked a frenzy,” while “Jay Z’s early releases were ignored.”
RELATED: Nas Reveals Why He No Longer Listens To “Ether,” Jay Z’s “Takeover”
I knew I should never clicked on this stupid ass link when I saw the comparison of Nas and Jay Z. They both serve a different purpose. Lyrically they are great in their own message. They both know how to deliver to their audience and that’s all that matter. Both know how to satisfy their fans otherwise they would not be the top elite in todays hip hop culture. Peace.
The amount of reaching on JAy’s video is terrible. Clearing a Hov Stan.
Takeover > Ether? LMFAO I do like a good laugh
jayz has made more money and mainsteam hits..and nas has been true to hiphop form his entire career..sure jayz has more money but when both die and not a single dollar is brought with either itll be about legacy at that point..
nas>>>>>>>>jayz.
jayz isnt even top 5 material IMHO
love both artists, but those who say nas kept it hiphop while jay sold out,, are forgetting nas tried to sell out but it didn’t do well for him..
When we’re talking pure hiphop there is no comparison, but if you want politics envolved Jay Z is a true hustler, but not a better Hiphop artist than Nas. Which is why they’re compared, don’t get me wrong JAY can spitt
Both of those lists were stupid.
This is some petty playground shit. Nas is a more deeper rapper. But jay z is capable of deep raps as well. There’s nothing that each rapper can do on the mic that the other can’t do.They both hold their own on the mic. They’ve both got their own lane mastered! And are both skillful at it.Ps why does money ever need to come into it?Their rappers not bankers. So judge them for their music.Only stans that watch a next mans pockets on some gay shit talks about a rappers money. Plus its not as if nas is broke.i’m sure he’s still sitting on a few mills.plus he’s got businesses that he doesn’t brag about every second. I prefer nas to be honest. For the simple fact that he doesn’t chase hits by using pop artists on his tracks. So basically jay z shares the same fans with Justin timberlake. Lady gaga etc cos he’s music is more accessible to the pop world.Nas got the more “real” hip hip heads as fans.Ps better at what?Pmsl if its straight undiluted rap music.then its definitely nas.But they got their name in hip hop history.Unlike 95% of these new wack rappers
U couldn’t of explained that shit any better! Str8 up!
They’ve both raised the bar high in hip hop.A standard that’s hard to follow. You can put both of their debut albums (from 20+ years ago) up against the music 97% of these new weak rappers are making. And reasonable doubt and illmatic would straight body 98% of these new albums all day long.Kendricks definitely doing his thing. His good kid albums dope. And Boaz.his album “intuition” is Dope!!!!!
jay-z’s mentor he discarded was jaz, who is the one nas is still cool with? i know he used to fuck with akinyele and mainsource and mc serch. is that one of them?(obviously not serch)
Large Professor
Large Professor, AZ. No I.D.
thats what i thought, thank you
I rock hoez ya rock fellas http://itunes.apple.com/album/id925468674
The Nas is better comparison is a 100% true, the jay comparison where they only talk about money and album sales is whack as fuck, you can put vanilla ice or MC hammer instead of jay and it would be the same.
my best friend’s half-sister makes $78 /hr on the laptop . She has been fired from work for five months but last month her paycheck was $14348 just working on the laptop for a few hours. you can try this out ….

LMAO @ not talkin about what matters: Lyrical skills.
Nas wins!
Yeah I think I’ll take Jay-Z’s career moves.
They forgot Jay-Z chose better beats.
Who cares lil homie? We are talking about the flow. The lyrical flow. Nas is the GOAT! Nas is good on BAD OR GOOD beats but can you say that for Jay! Gotcha!
LMAO of confusing the hell out of us, I thought it was about who’s the better MC. You silly niggas haha, the Jay-Z one was funny as hell
Takeover > Either….. LMFAO how did whoever made this video get a job at complex? Either > Jay-Z… fucking clowns man
NAS is the Greatest of All Time! Period, end of Story! Dude is lyrically better on good or bad beats. I love Jay but he is no Nas. Yes, he has all the material things and sell out stadiums but Nas is the TRUE KING!
“Nas is like life or death.. I’m a rebel.. ”
“My poetry’s deep, I never fell..”
“Nas is like.. half man half amazing..”
“No doubt..”
Nas trumps Jay Z easily. Nas lyrics is unmatched be for real here. This is not even a story!
“Nas is like..” Sex to a nympho, but nothin sweet
I’m like beef, bustin heat through your windows
I’m like a street sweeper, greenleaf reaper
Like Greeks in Egypt, learnin somethin deep from they teachers
I’m like crime, like your nine, your man you would die for
Always got you, I’m like Pop Duke you would cry for
I’m like a whole lot of loot, I’m like crisp money
Corporate accounts from a rich company
I’m like ecstasy for ladies, I’m like all races
combined in one man; like the ’99 summer jam
Bulletproof Hummer man
I’m like being locked down around new faces, and none of em fam’
I’m the feelin of a millionaire spendin a hundred grand
I’m a poor man’s dream, a thug poet
Live it, and I write down and I watch it blow up
Y’all know what I’m like, y’all play it your system every night
Now..
“2nd Childhood”
[Nas] Yeah, hahaha
“Cause when I flow the for the street..” – “.. who else could it be”
“Nas..”
[Nas]
Yo
Explode, my thoughts were drunken from quarts of beers
Was years back, before Nasir would explore a career in rap
As a music dude, I mastered this Rubik’s Cube
Godzilla, fought Gargantua, eyes glued to the tube
Was a, long time ago, John Boy Ice
Geronimo po-lice jumpin out Chryslers, easywider paper
Pops puffin his sess, punchin his chest like a gorilla
Outside was psychoes, killers
Saw Divine, Goon and Chungo, Lil’ Turkey
R.I.P. Tyrone, ‘member no cursin front of Ms. Vercey
Big Percy, Crazy Paul, the Sledge Sisters
My building was 40-16, once in the blue, hallways was clean
I knew, all that I’d seen had meant somethin
Learned early, to fear none little Nas was huntin
Livin carefree laughin, got jokes on the daily
Y’all actin like some old folks y’all don’t hear me
Yo I’m in my second childhood
[Chorus: repeat 2X]
“Cause when I flow the for the street..” – “.. who else could it be”
“N-A-S” – “Nas..”
“Resurrect, through the birth of my seed..” – “Queensbridge”
“Make everything right..” – “Get yours, nigga”
[Nas]
Yo, dude is 31, livin in his moms crib
Ex-convict, was paroled there after his long bid
Cornrows in his hair, still slingin, got a crew
They break his moms furniture, watchin Comicview
Got babies by different ladies high smokin L’s
in the same spot he stood since, eighty-five well
When his stash slow, he be crazy
Say he by his moms, hit her on her payday
Junior high school dropout, teachers never cared
They was paid just to show up and leave, no one succeeds
So he moves with his peers, different blocks, different years
Sittin on, different benches like it’s musical chairs
All his peoples moved on in life, he’s on the corners at night
with young dudes it’s them he wanna be like
It’s sad but it’s fun to him right? He never grew up
31 and can’t give his youth, he’s in his second childhood
[Chorus]
[Nas]
Baby girl she’s always talkin name droppin hangin late
Drinkin smokin hates her baby daddy, craves shoppin
E poppin Ecstasy takin, won’t finish her education
Best friend she keeps changin, stuck with limitations
Lustin men, many hotels, Fendi Chanel
With nothin in her bank account frontin she do well
Her kid suffers he don’t get that love he deserve
He the Sun, she the Earth, single mom, even worse
No job never stay workin, mad purty
Shorty they call her the brain surgeon
Time flyin she the same person, never matures
All her friends married doin well
She’s in the streets yakkety yakkin like she was 12
Honey is twenty-seven, argues fights
Selfish in her own right, polite, guess she’s in her second childhood
[Chorus]
“Who else could it be..” – “N-A-S” – “Nas..”
Nas lyrically definitely go to hard for Jay. I don’t know who in the past or present can mess with Nas. Much respect to the others, Nas is the People’s Champion! Nas go hard, man! Too damn hard!
hmmm…
