Growing up in Kansas City, Tech N9ne lived through George Brett’s Hall Of Fame run with the Kansas City Royals, which last appeared in the World Series in 1985.
The Royals defeated the Baltimore Orioles 2-1 yesterday (October 15) to advance to its first World Series appearance in 29 years. Tech N9ne says he remembers the last time his city’s baseball team was so successful.
“I haven’t seen this happen with the Royals since I was in seventh grade,” Tech N9ne says during an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. “I’m so happy to see them break records like nobody else with the straight eight. World Series here we come.”
The “straight eight” to which Tech N9ne refers is the Royals’ undefeated mark in the 2014 Major League Baseball playoffs. The team is 8-0 in the 2014 postseason, defeating the Orioles 4-0, the Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim 3-0 in the American League Division Series and the Oakland Athletics 1-0 in the American League Wild Card game.
