Drake Passes The Beatles With Latest Billboard Hot 100 Single

With OVO’s recent signee Makonnen’s single “Tuesday” breaking into the Billboard Hot 100 charts this past week, Drake has earned his 72nd appearance on the chart with his feature on the track. The latest Hot 100 spot places Drake directly in front of The Beatles as the artist with the eighth most appearances on the chart ever.

Makonnen’s “Tuesday” debuted at #90 this week according to Billboard. Drake has yet to earn a #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 charts as a solo artist but currently holds the record for the most #1 songs on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs less than six years after first landing on the charts in the first place, beating out Jay Z, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West in the process.

Still, Jay Z and Lil Wayne both remain ahead of Drake in the count for most appearances on the Hot 100. Other acts with more Hot 100 singles than Drake include Elvis, James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Glee which holds the number one spot with 207 separate entries on the chart.

Last weekend, Drake concluded his co-headlining tour with Lil Wayne in Houston, Texas. The Drake Vs. Lil Wayne tour featured an accompanying app for audience members to rate which artist performed better. On the final night of the 31-date tour, Drake hinted at a possible redux and announced that the competition resulted in a tie.

    1. Drake pays tribute to Ray Charles, Prince, Michael Jackson, and James Brown. He’s right up there with them in terms of being a legend. Drake had the best selling hiphop album of 2013.

      1. He’s about as much a legend, as simple as his lyrics. Mainstream radio dickrides Drake so its no surprise he’s been in the hot 100. Wake up nigga. Fake imagery and marketing dollars don’t make you a legend. The Beatles actually put the work in, Drake hasn’t.

      2. Actually Em did by like a millie, but sales do not signify quality in anything anyway lol (is Avatar the best movie ever lol?). And Drake has never made a hip-hop album either way.

      3. He wouldn’t be on the radio if he wasn’t so damn good. Drake is one of the realest niggas in the game. He might not be the fantasy gangster but his story m r to riches is true. Drake puts tons of work in. Plus the members of beatles fallen off.

Oh and Eminem is pop, not hiphop. Get that distinction right next time.

      4. Now, Drakes good, maybe even better then lil wayne, but Eminem is the greatest emcee of all time, all time ! -drops the mic-

      5. Radio plays tons of terrible music, they don’t care if it’s good. Drake ain’t real and he’s not the greatest. The Beatles never fell off at all.

Also, Eminem is hip-hop. not pop. Just because you don’t like him doesn’t mean he ain’t hip-hop.

      6. well accounting for 2013 sales only, drake had the best selling hip hop album.if we include this year then eminem has the best selling.drake himself said he would never ever make a straight hip hop album.this talk of who is real and who is fake is now becoming played out and old.this is entertainment people.accept it.drake if consistent,he will become a great.Eminem and The Beatles is that bar drake is tryna reach.im a drake fan but comparing drake with those ancestors is bullshit.he will have to put an extra 15 years to reach such status

      7. best selling hip hop albums at the year end of 2013:…..1.NWTS 2.Magna Carta Holy Grail 3.The Heist 4.MMLP2 5.GKMC look it up on billboard.Dont let stanning fool you.

      8. Yeah cosign.MMLP2 was available only for about 7 weeks in 2013.The other albums like Heist charted all year round

      9. best selling hip hop albums at the year end of 2013:…..1.NWTS 2.Magna Carta Holy Grail 3.The Heist 4.MMLP2 5.GKMC look it up on billboard.Dont let stanning fool you.

You pulled that information out your ass? MMLP2 is the best selling hip-hop album of 2013, that’s a fact.

      1. Drake ain’t trying to be from the hood. He’s a simple poor kid who had a hard life when he was being overworked to death over at degrassi while being underpaid.

      2. Please. Nobody believes that lie. Dude was never poor, he had it easy being from Canadian suburbs. I doubt he was ever overworked and underpaid being an actor.

      1. ^ So? This site is full of white teen kendrick dick riders. Of course his garbage is popular here.

      2. No, he didn’t and all races support him, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, etc. Just because he gained some success doesn’t mean he sold out. Fucking hipsters.

    2. They tried to pull the same thing with Michael Jackson and Nicki Minaj. This record means nothing. Their publicists are just trying to brainwash you into accepting them as legends as The Beatles and MJ. It won’t be done.

      Don’t fall for it!

      1. don’t start topping off the Beatles because I can say Earth, Wind, & Fire is the goat band and recognize Beatles achieved this accomplishment with their own music not a bag full of collaborations

    3. Now if this article doesn’t highlight Drake’s overall greatness, then i don’t know what does. Drake has officially surpassed an old and washed up group like the Beatles. It’s hilarious. Drake is kicking ass and taking names. There’s no genre, no group, no emcee that can conquer or overpower him

      1. An old and washed-up group that sold a billion records worldwide, have the most number one singles on the Hot 100, and has influenced every artist that came after them while changing the music game.

      2. ^this nigga is so scared of drake’s ruling of the rap game that he’s just straight up delusional when it comes to the truth.

      3. Drake isn’t ruling anything, especially when there’s many rappers who are better, i.e. Kendirck Lamar.

      1. “Drake wont be around in 5 years.”

that’s what you said 5 years ago and guess what? drake’s still here, and will be here another five. keep on hating.

      2. In another 5 years, Drake won’t be that popular anymore. You’ll be calling him old and washed up and you’ll start dickriding the newest hot-at-the-moment rapper.

      3. i’mma ride with drake if he still continues putting out great music and is still consistent. i would still like wayne right now, but ever since he got out of prison, he just started getting worse and worse. he’s still popular but he sucks right now, so yeah, wayne’s old.

      4. You ain’t gonna ride with him when he gets older and loses popularity and is replaced by another new rapper. Wayne is always trash and he got worse after C3.

    4. this record is like saying a team made it to the most playoffs, but never won a championship……totally pointless

      1. he does have a num one with that whats my name joint with rihanna, but then again, having a number 1 doesnt define actual ability to make good music.Sir mix a lot too had a num one.oooooo and iggy too.

    5. drake continues to break records all before the age of 30. how many other rappers under 30 are doing this? all you haters and nerds should bow down and kiss the ring. #OVO #ViewsFromThe6

      1. He ain’t breaking any records that mean anything, stanley. Dude is not as great as you hype him up to be.

      2. fuck you, i can do hashtags all i want. #DrakeIsTheGreatest #You’reJustAHater #OVFuckinOBitch #ViewsFromThe6

      3. You posting like a female. Hell, I’m actually convinced you are a female with the constant groupie behavior.

      4. nope, 100% male. just can’t stand hating ass bitches like you. #NiggasTalkMoreThanBitchesTheseDays #HashtaggingYouToDeath #OVFuckinOBitch #ViewsFromThe6

      5. The irony of your comment because you talk more like a bitch with your gay ass hashtags. Leave that on Twitter, you female.

      6. you’re the female here because you keep hating. didn’t gay-z once say that jealousy is a female trait? that’s what you’re doing right now. #StillHashataggingYou #StopReplyingIfYouWantMeToStop #OVFuckinOBitch #ViewsFromThe6

      7. I’m not hating and I’m not jealous. You’re just butthurt that I told you the truth about your hero. You are a dickrider till the end with female hashtags.

      1. Eminem ain’t washed up, especially when he still sells records, and so what if he’s old? Age doesn’t affect rapping skills and Em is still a great rapper who can give other rappers, Drake included, a run for their money. Also, Drake will be washed up and old eventually and you’re gonna defend him against someone younger than you who’ll say the same things you used to say.

    6. drakes success makes haters very mad. Name another rapper doing big things and breaking records like drake at the young age of 28. keep hating and denying facts. Remember the 3 criterias to measure sucess is numbers, consistency and longevity which drake has. A bunch of internet nerds opinions won’t matter. When its all said and drake will be considered one of the greatest rappers ever.

      1. Don’t you ever get tired of posting the same lies? Drake is not the greatest and never will be. Your entire post is nothing but your irrelevant opinion which you try to twist as fact. Your only argument is popularity and sales, which doesn’t automatically mean the best. You can’t even talk about Drake’s music, which isn’t that great.

      2. dont u ever get tired of being proven wrong. How did i say lies? Bring up numbers and facts to arguements your nerdy opinions don’t mean shit

      3. Yeah i can name one Eminem at age 28 had the fastest selling album had already one three grammy awards in a year for best rap album. Had the number one movie in a america won a Oscar academy award for lose yourself(Only rapper to win a oscar). and has been rapping and dropping albums ever since 1999. Smh drake can keep his little pop records singing to 13 and 15 year old girls. and you what sad Eminem is in his 40s and drake is in his 20s and Em is still selling more records than drake lol.

    7. In another 5 years, Drake won’t be that popular anymore. You’ll be calling him old and washed up and you’ll start dickriding the newest hot-at-the-moment rapper.

That ain’t true at all. Drake will always be popular. He will always be one of my favorites.

    8. Here’s some of eminem’s examples of hypocrisy

      1. He dissed against pop stars in 2000. He dissed against brittney spears yet rihanna is basically the black britney spears and eminem works with him.

      2. He doesn’t want to be remembered as a pop star yet corny pop tracks like monster are flooding airwaves.

      1. This kid is a fucking idiot first of all Eminem dissed corny gay boy banned like N’sync and backstreet boys he dissed britney and christiana because they were judging him off of rumors they heard so he did the same.
and when he was just starting to blow up people were saying he was a pop star when he was dropping hip hop classics left and right.
now lets talk about Drakes hypocrisy
        1. One minute he is rapping about how he can fuck your bitch(which is probably a 15 year old he is talking about) then the next minute he is singing about how his heart is broken by some imaginary girlfriend
        2. He made a song called started from the bottom when he was acting all his life which he still is by the way. dude has never seen broke in his life.
its funny because every time i hear that song their is not a single line or bar besides the stupid chorus that indicates him being poor or starting from the bottom

    9. A Drake cameo on another payola gassed hit counts, ok then add in all the George, Paul, John, even Ringo lol solo hits and recalculate

    10. Another example of how most people who buy music are teenagers that don’t know any better. This big head, ugly, overrated in ever single way pop puppet, actor is just “An Actor With A Record Deal Tryin To Play The Part”. Keep supporting BS and fake hip hop sites like this.

    11. “He ain’t breaking any records that mean anything”

Passing the Beatles doesn’t mean anything? lol You sir are a crackhead.

    12. fucc ya you haters stay mad and hide behind your computers like the whiny little nerds you are. Drake is the king of rap period

      1. Tunechi – 120 Hot 100 singles, 34 as lead, 86 as feature. (11 solo)

        Jay-Z – 80 Hot 100 singles, 50 as lead, 30 as feature. (17 solo)

    13. I hate the fact that I live in a world where Drake is considered the best rapper alive. I don’t understand why this entire younger generation is obsessed with this crappy pop music claiming to be rap. His music sounds like it was written for teenage girls yet so many guys seem to love his stuff.

      1. thats what I’m saying i understand when girls of gay dudes(not a diss) but i don’t see how straight guys can call him the best

      1. but paul mccartney and lennons solo works and features were not factored into the beatles record so drakes record should be only drake records.

      2. yeah musicians werent fucking groupies back then remixing every “hot” song that comes out and collabing with the whole industry to pad their stats

    14. The Beatles made their record in 7 short years from 1963-1970 in a time where there was no internet, no MTV… just radio, some television appearances, touring and word of mouth.

    15. he’s out there getting spa treatments while haters stay broke
      +++++++

SOMERSAULT OFF DAT PISSY BED & GO 2 THE STORE WITCHA MOMMA RITEAID GOT THAT 4 CHEAP FOR THE BROADS

    16. “the beatles record was for beatles songs, it didnt include dozens of features like drakes record”

The music industry has evolved since those days when collabo’s didn’t exist. Hits are hits, and Drake’s name is plastered all over them.

    17. Its so funny to hear the comments on here dissing Drake or trying dismiss his achievement or dismiss him as dumb pop music as opposed to the holy untouchable Beatles. People here are so uneducated about history, they have no idea that mainstream critics during the 1960s completely dismissed the Beatles the exact same way. There is plenty of now embarassing of evidence from almost every mainstream publication calling the “Beatles” simplistic pop and music for dumb horny teenage girls. I guess, the historical legacy of traditionalist sophisticated music critics vs. people who just listen to music for pure enjoyment will just keep continuing…. At any rate, kudos to Drake. Kudos to hip-hop
