With OVO’s recent signee Makonnen’s single “Tuesday” breaking into the Billboard Hot 100 charts this past week, Drake has earned his 72nd appearance on the chart with his feature on the track. The latest Hot 100 spot places Drake directly in front of The Beatles as the artist with the eighth most appearances on the chart ever.
Makonnen’s “Tuesday” debuted at #90 this week according to Billboard. Drake has yet to earn a #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 charts as a solo artist but currently holds the record for the most #1 songs on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs less than six years after first landing on the charts in the first place, beating out Jay Z, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West in the process.
Still, Jay Z and Lil Wayne both remain ahead of Drake in the count for most appearances on the Hot 100. Other acts with more Hot 100 singles than Drake include Elvis, James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Glee which holds the number one spot with 207 separate entries on the chart.
Last weekend, Drake concluded his co-headlining tour with Lil Wayne in Houston, Texas. The Drake Vs. Lil Wayne tour featured an accompanying app for audience members to rate which artist performed better. On the final night of the 31-date tour, Drake hinted at a possible redux and announced that the competition resulted in a tie.
