Cash Money Records’ Cash Money Content (CMC) division has launched the #IRead #WeRead campaign in order to encourage reading in the African American community, according to a press release.

“Reading is an important step in the right direction toward making a difference in our community,” says Ronald “Slim” Williams, co-founder of Cash Money Records and Cash Money Content.  “Let’s encourage our communities to read.”

CMC says its goal is to encourage African Americans of all ages to share books, article links and blog posts with the hashtags #IRead and #WeRead.

“This effort is to not only open the dialogue about books and share interesting literary findings,” the press release says, “but also to inspire families and the African American community as a whole to pick up books, follow links and read.”
