Childish Gambino recently joined Ariana Grande on-stage at iHeartRadio Music Festival to perform “Break Your Heart Right Back” and afterward, he recalled making it.
Recently speaking with Billboard, Gambino explained that once the songstress sent him the track he knew it would become something big.
“The song was sent to us and we immediately were like, ‘This is a hit,’” he said when asked about the collaboration. “She just sounds so good on it and it’s a great song.”
Gambino also says Ariana Grande appreciated his voice and has a good knowledge base about music.

“She came in when I was recording and was like, ‘That’s great. I love the tone of your voice,’” he said. “She knows her stuff about music and rap.”
Finally, Childish Gambino talked about his upcoming STN MTN / KAUAI mixtape and explains why he thinks it’s revolutionary.
“I feel like it’s the first concept mixtape ever,” Gambino said. “It’s a mixtape that goes into the EP but they’re connected. It’s the same character and the same story from Because the Internet and Camp. It’s kind of like a nice in between for the next album.”
