Gucci Mane pleaded guilty to assault yesterday (September 15).
The rapper was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting an Army staff sergeant with bottle in a nightclub on March 16, 2013. The sergeant reportedly walked up to Gucci Mane’s VIP area and was looking to take a picture with the rapper before being hit with the bottle.
District Attorney Paul Howard spoke on the matter, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“Rather than accommodating the admiring fan, Davis, for no explicable reason, instead, hit the victim over the head with a vodka bottle and then hurriedly left the club,” District Attorney Howard said. “The victim sustained a deep laceration to his forehead which required 10 stitches.”

The AJC report says it’s unclear if Gucci will get credit for time served.
Mane was also convicted of battery in 2011 and assault in 2005, the AJC explains. In ’05, Mane was also charged with murder following a shooting of a Macon rapper that allegedly attacked him, but the charges were dropped. In 2008, Gucci was charged with battery in Henry County, also. However, victims were unwilling to testify, according to the AJC.
This follows recent news that indicated Gucci would be released one year early for a different sentencing regarding weapons charges.
