The collaborative effort between Missy and Adidas hit a snag last week as the line was pulled from Danish stores after finding that the logo was a bit too similar to the logo of the country’s Queen Margrethe II’s copyright.

The clothing collection carries a logo that is a crown on top of the words “Respect” and Missy’s initials “M.E.” This reportedly bears a striking resemblance to the queen’s logo that consists of a crown on top of the letters “M-2-R” with the “R” standing for the Latin word for queen, Regina.

Margaret Sap, Adidas spokeswoman, said that the similarity was pure coincidence and that the company did agree to remove the clothing from Danish stores.

“It came as a surprise to us, the logo merely had the crown to signal that Missy Elliott is the queen of hip-hop,” Sap stated.

Even though copyright laws are global, Adidas doesn’t plan to remove the collection from shelves outside Denmark.
