The newly-released album trailer for Wale’s upcoming album, The Album About Nothing, began with mentions of a handful of the rappers more notorious moments. Audio from Wale’s telephone rant against those at Complex magazine was added to the trailer as well as mentions of the brief falling out between the D.C. lyricist and fellow MMG artist Meek Mill.

Later in the album trailer, Wale speaks directly to his fans as he comments on his past soul searching and the feeling that he’s “losing it.” He then questions if he’s gone on to lose his fans or even himself.

“My my my. Times changed,” Wale says in his The Album About Nothing trailer. “Or have I changed over time? I’ve been doing a good amount of soul searching and I feel like I’m an emotional roller coaster these days. And honestly y’all, sometimes I feel like I’ve lost it all. Or I feel like I’m losing it. But the question is have I lost my people, fans? That irreplaceable bond that comes with being able to tap into things only me and them can connect with…Or maybe I lost myself? Like reading ‘We miss the old Wale’ a thousand times a day can fuck up a nigga head no matter how thick his skin is.”

After commenting further on being lost and what may have led to feeling that way, Wale then revealed that it’s time to “get back to the basics.”

“Yeah, maybe I am a bit lost…Where did I lose myself? Where did I lose them? Was it the money? Was it the women? Was it the fast life? It may just be a little bit of all that…Sometimes it’s just better to get back to the basics,” he says in the trailer.

The album trailer concludes with Wale in the recording studio with actor Jerry Seinfeld. An album release date isn’t revealed in the trailer, but the video does conclude with a “coming soon” after the #TAAN hashtag.
