Kendrick Lamar Added To Jeezy’s “Holy Ghost” Remix

The second of two new Kendrick Lamar verses in a single week, the TDE emcee added onto the official remix of Jeezy’s “Holy Ghost” on Wednesday. The remix was released the day after Jeezy’s Seen It All album release. The Don Cannon and Frank Dukes produced track finds Jeezy holding down the first two verses and Kendrick jumping in for the third. “The black on black is a blessin’ / Black on Black crime on my weapon / I protect mine on my mama and ‘em, these my Usher confessions / Let it burn,” he raps.

The new Kendrick Lamar verse was released on the same day of reports that he is being sued for a $1 million stemming from an uncleared sample on Section 80. Willie Jones III and Eric Reed filed a lawsuit claiming that the rapper’s 2011 track “Rigamortis” features unlawful use of their 2010 song “The Thorn.” The two musicians say that Lamar never paid them for the sample. In addition to the $1 million amount, the pair is also suing for all profits and rights to “Rigamortis.”

Charlamagne Tha God Reacts To Onyx Interview

Reacting to a Breakfast Club interview from late July, Charlamagne explained being taken aback by Fredro Starr’s response to a question about his former relationship with R&B singer Brandy.

“I was surprised because, you know, I’m the type of person I know if I ask a certain question, it may or may not go a certain way,” Charlamagne said during an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. “I know the questions I ask could be perceived in a negative way if you’re that type of person. Or, even if I tell somebody I don’t like their music or their music is wack or that their verse was wack, they could flip out. But if I’m saluting you ‘cause you got head from an R&B chick and you flip out, that’s a little weird. So it was a little surprising. It was a little shocking.”

Slaughterhouse Gathers For Joell Ortiz Album

Culled from his upcoming third album, House Slippers, Joell Ortiz released the Slaughterhouse featuring “Brother’s Keeper” earlier this week. Like much of the rest of the album, “Brother’s Keeper” was produced by The Heatmakerz. Featuring lyrics about the group’s beyond-the-music bond, each member drops off a verse before moving on. Ortiz’s House Slippers is scheduled for release on September 16. The album is set to be released on the relaunched Penalty Entertainment label, formerly Penalty Records.
