With a rough-cut snippet of a new Kanye West track sparking interest in the rapper’s next album, a source reportedly told The Sun newspaper that West is currently vying to work with Paul McCartney on the new release. The reports coincide with Kanye’s backstage appearance at The Beatles singer’s recent show in L.A. at Dodgers Stadium.
“Kanye really respects music legends and is still putting the finishing touches to his new album,” the source reportedly told The Sun. “He has been tapping Macca up for a while about working together.”
“Kanye and Paul have known each other for a long time but became more friendly recently,” the source also said. “There’s every chance they’ll head into the studio together.”
The news follows comments from McCartney last year in which he opened up about considering Hip Hop features on his song “Appreciate.” While the track didn’t end up featuring a rapper, Paul said he “resisted the temptation to get a rapper in” before being asked who such an emcee might be. “Oh, Jay Z, Kanye,” he responded.

UPDATE: Kanye West and Paul McCartney are working together on what could become a joint project, according to The New York Post. The report says they are working on “Piss On My Grave.”
Huffington Post reports that West’s reps declined to comment on the emcee’s reported McCartney collab. Nevertheless, they confirmed that the rapper is actually working on a song titled “Piss On Your Grave,” not the previously reported “Piss On My Grave.”
