Kendrick Lamar’s “Control” verse anniversary might be approaching, but his follow-up to good kid, m.A.A.d. city has also been the focus of conversations surrounding the TDE emcee.

Recently, Pete Rock spoke with XXL about how he’s contributed to the Compton, California rapper’s sophomore album.

“I did some scratching and I’m on the hook on one of his songs on his album,” Pete Rock says. “I’m really excited about that. It’s just a regular hook. I can’t really sing it to you. You’re just going to have to hear it.”

Pete Rock says he met Kendrick Lamar through text messages and that his work with Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q has also allowed him to slowly build rapport with Top Dawg artists.
