In addition to working with crooner Chris Brown on “Ready,” Brooklyn rapper Fabolous says he has yet again linked up with the singer for a new record, which will be featured on his upcoming album, Loso’s Way 2. The New York City wordsmith spoke on both records during a newly-published interview with MTV News.

In regards to “Ready,” which was initially intended for placement on Loso’s Way 2, Fabolous says the song was a “buildup single,” and added that he and Brown weren’t quite ready when they released the song last year.

He later revealed that their newest collaboration helped in steering the direction of his upcoming album.

“We just worked on a joint for the new project. ‘Ready’ was kinda like a buildup single to where we was going, but I don’t think we was exactly ready,” Fab said. “No pun intended. But me and Chris are friends and worked together well. So, when I got this record I felt like it was something that leaned in his direction and what he’s doing right now. So, I went over—Just flew over to L.A. Played it for him. He liked it. Did it right there in the spot and now it’s in the can and ready to go. I think what was crazy about the record too is it kinda—It like steered the direction of where the project is gonna go. So, it was great. It’s definitely gonna be melodic. I don’t wanna give it away too much right now. But it’s definitely gonna be good vibes…You’re getting it very soon.”

Fabolous also clarified that his collab with Breezy does not feature Nicki Minaj. He did add that he has reached out to Nicki for a possible feature on Loso’s Way 2.

“Yeah, I’ve worked with Nicki before,” he said. “And like you said Nicki’s on a roll and doing her thing. I reached back out to her as well when I was out in L.A. So, we got something coming in the works too. I think it was a mix-up that the record was me, Chris Brown, and Nicki. But it’s not. It’s like two separate records. So, me and Nicki working on something too.”

Lastly, Fab offered his thoughts on Nicki Minaj’s much-talked about cover art to “Anaconda” as he compared the cover to Lil Kim’s Hard Core cover.

“I thought it was cool,” the rapper said. “I thought it was her 2014 way of doing the Lil’ Kim. Not saying that she was trying to be Lil’ Kim, but like when Kim did the pose. The Hard Core pose. This is kinda like Nicki’s pose now…I read somewhere that somebody was like ‘She’s leading little girls.’ And I don’t think—I think after the fact people look at it that deeply…It’s still on her how she wants to portray herself, portray her music.”

After numerous delays, Fabolous announced in March of this year that he was hoping for a summer release for Loso’s Way 2. A set release date for the album has yet to be revealed.
