Jay Z and Roc-A-Fella Records are the target of a lawsuit from Chauncey Mahan, according to TMZ

The producer and engineer says in a new lawsuit that he was a key producer and creator of six Roc-A-Fella Records releases during his tenure with the company in the late 1990s and early 2000s and that he was instrumental in shaping the sound of some of the imprint’s best-selling releases, including Jay Z’s Vol. 3… The Life And Times Of S. Carterand The Dynasty Roc La Familia (2000- ), which were released in 1999 and 2000, respectively.

Mahan wants a judge to rule that he is the co-owner of the copyright to the material because he was essential to its creation.
