While the storm that was the selling of Roc-A-Fella and the signing of powerhouse Jay-Z has finally calmed, reports have surfaced that Cash Money’s Lil Wayne will join Hov over at Island Def Jam.
There has been no official word on the signing but word on the streets is that this is a done deal. The move will push the budding star into the limelight and offer him the chance to obtain superstardom. His last album The Carte has been acclaimed by fans and critics alike and a move to Def Jam could be the breakout move that Weezy was waiting on.
But some insiders have questioned the move saying that Wayne and CMR aren’t on the best of terms because of the split. Sources are citing that Wayne is not only leaping at the opportunity to join Def Jam for exposure, but is also getting away from the financial problems that plagued discontented artists before him such as Juvenile, Turk and B.G. Many know that Wayne’s legal guardian is CMR’s Baby which makes the split a little harder to swallow. We’ll keep you posted as this situation develops.
