Even though it has been a surprise to many that Damon Dash and Roc-A-Fella records are not linked together like they used to be, it seems that Damon Dash isn’t quite letting go of the Roc altogether. People wondered exactly where Dame would go since selling the company and Dame has shed a little light on his future. One being that he’ll be taking the artists with him.

“For the artists [already on the label], like a Beanie Sigel, N.O.R.E., Joe Budden or Cam’ron, I will control their projects,” Dash told MTV. “The same way Lyor [Cohen] was still controlling Def Jam and Jimmy Iovine was controlling Interscope, it’s just that it’ll probably be under a different name. They gave Jay the name.

“[The artists] will be with me through Def Jam,” he added, “but I’ll still control their projects. Probably ’cause Roc-A-Fella don’t mean the same thing to me no more and I don’t control the name, I’ll probably put [the projects out] through a different name. I’m not gonna build value in a name I don’t own. It’s a different kind of movement now.”

For his future, Dash is releasing several artists from “his” roster including N.O.R.E.’s album in January and Beanie Sigel’s third LP with an official ODB album due in February. Even though Cam’ron has departed from the Roc, Dame says that he still wants to be very involved in his career. He also made it very clear that his former partner will not be his boss and that he will deal directly with only Antonio “L.A.” Reid.
