A video of Justin Bieber singing the N-word was the week’s top story. Other noteworthy items were the death of Lil Durk’s cousin and the G-Unit reunion at Hot 97’s Summer Jam. 

Justin Bieber Racist Comments Unearthed, Singer Uses N-Word; Rappers Respond

On Sunday (June 1), footage surfaced of a 15-year-old Justin Bieber using the N-word.

The singer asks why Black people are afraid of chain saws and uses the N-word in his answer to his question. Someone in the clip can be heard asking him not to say it. 

According to TMZ, the footage was offered to them four years ago. They say they did not use it because the singer was 15 at the time and that he “immediately told his friends what he did was stupid.” The site says one African American person was present when he said this and adds “that really doesn’t matter much.”

Lil Durk’s Cousin, Rapper OTF Nunu, Shot & Killed In Chicago

Cousin of rapper Lil Durk and Rap artist OTF Nunu was reportedly shot and killed May 31 on the South Side of Chicago. OTF Nunu, whose given name is McArthur Swindle, was 21 years old and had plans to release a mixtape this summer tentatively titledNuski Got Da Strap.

A few days before he was killed, Lil Durk released a set of visuals featuring Nunu on the song “OC.”

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Swindle’s shooting may have been gang-related. The rapper’s aunt, Sherri Swindle, told the Times that Nunu was not affiliated with any Chicago gangs and added that he was taking college courses in Joliet just outside of the city.

50 Cent & G-Unit Members Reunite During Hot 97’s “Summer Jam 2014”

G-Unit members 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck reunited for a performance during New York radio station Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam event, which took place Sunday (June 1). 

The reunion follows comments 50 Cent has made regarding G-Unit members earlier this year

“Some people, they’re like milk,” 50 Cent says during an interview in March. “They have an expiration date and no matter what you do, they’ll spoil after a while.”
