Dr. Dre Makes Apple Debut During Worldwide Developers Conference

Dr. Dre made his public debut as an Apple executive during a phone call as part of the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference today (June 2), according to appleinsider

The rapper-producer received a phone call from Apple software chief Craig Federighi, the site says.

“Dre said that he’s excited to begin life at Apple,” according to a story on apple insider, “before joking about what time he’d have to show up to work every day in order to beat notoriously early-rising Chief Executive Tim Cook.”

Apple says that it acquired Beats for its streaming service, not its line of headphones, as Cook has said that Beats provides Apple with an advantage in the streaming world.

Beats Music launched its music streaming service in January. It reportedly features a catalog of 20 million songs.

Last month, Apple purchased Beats Electronics for $3 billion.

“I’ve always known in my heart that Beats belonged with Apple,” Jimmy Iovine, who co-founded Beats Electronics with Dr. Dre, said in a statement May 28. “The idea when we started the company was inspired by Apple’s unmatched ability to marry culture and technology. Apple’s deep commitment to music fans, artists, songwriters and the music industry is something special.”

During the call with Dr. Dre today, Federighi also demonstrated how iPhones will be able to place phone calls and talk via a Mac computer’s microphone and speakers.

    1. Apple, SMH. Dre sure made a shitload of money, but still he shouldn’t have anything to do with failing company like Apple. Horrible products with even more horrible OS’s and design.

    2. Wait, you think a company worth over 600 billion is a “failing company” ha. I’d like to see what your opinion is on what a successful company is. Apple is struggling with innovation on new products, not “failing”

      1. “products are trash”

^ many studios still running off them g5 clear towers and iMacs, you sounding like you ain’t got the chips for apple products so you jellie

    3. If he made all this money, why is Puff on Forbes’ list with a net worth of over 800 million.

    4. Dre a house negro and sellout. He doesn’t care bout makin stars outta talented kids from the geto anymore. Ony cares bout working with rich white guys.

      1. Kendrick Lamar is about the only lyrical rapper from the ghetto that sells records these days…….. And Dre signed him

Your argument is null and void

    5. You’re tripping Dre has been making stars outta people for over 20 plus years at some point you wanna do other things & apple money is way better then rap money, you must be one of those mcs who is upset he can’t get on.
