CeeLo Green, who reportedly passed on Pharrell’s “Happy,” was recently asked if he regrets foregoing his opportunity to release the track now that it has had chart-topping success.
“No, no, no,” CeeLo says in an interview with TMZ. “Not regret.”
When Pharrell announced that “Happy” was initially for CeeLo, the producer also said “he burns my version.” CeeLo commented on this praise, as well.
“I won’t say that,” CeeLo says. “That’s him being modest. I appreciate that. I respect that. He’s a generous brother. I think karma is rewarding him because he was all prepared to give all that away. The fact that it’s worked so immensely well for him is very gratifying for the both of us.”
