Killer Mike posted on his Instagram account a photo of himself in the studio with El-P, Travis Barker and Zach de la Rocha. The Run the Jewels studio session, which took place yesterday (April 21), was not planned.
“I was high and I realized, ‘Oh shit, we invited both the homies to listen to shit one the same day at the same time. Man, I hope the homies fucks with one another,’” Killer Mike says exclusively to HipHopDX. “Zach knows El. I knows Trav. All parties were cool as fuck. Shout out to Cheese for the Medical.”
In November, Killer Mike said that Run the Jewels, his group with El-P, is set to release an album in 2014.
“I can say that we’re going for the triple crown,” Killer Mike said during an exclusive interview with HipHopDX at the time. “I see we’re coming back next year. We’re gonna be recording December and January. Let’s everybody hope and pray that we make the illest, craziest possible Rap shit, that it’s dope as hell and that we enjoy another year of doing what we do for all the Run the Jewels fans.”

The duo’s self-titled 2013 album earned critical acclaim. “I think that a lot of people are right,” Killer Mike said. “We worked very hard to impress you guys and we’re very glad that you were impressed. Like the year prior to this, in which El dropped Cancer 4 Cure and I dropped R.A.P. Music, we were working really hard on those albums to impress you, too, and we worked very hard to impress each other because we love Rap the way you do. So, I can tell you to look forward to us working our asses off to further push ourselves, push the boundaries and grow Run the Jewels for you to be impressed. That’s with whatever El and I do together. We’re always working to leave an impression on fans.”
