Toronto rapper and actor Drake surprised a teenage cancer patient in Houston over the weekend with a requested visit following a social media campaign anchored by the hashtag #DrakeForKen. According to a pair of posts by XXL, Kennedy Brown, a student at Carnegie Vanguard High, has a form of terminal brain cancer.

In addition to rallying for a visit from Drake, Brown’s classmates reportedly surprised their peer with a unexpected prom celebration in her honor. “We realized we need to do this for her so that she can get this experience that we’re all going to get,” the event’s organizers told ABC13 Houston according to XXL. Brown was additionally treated to a visit from her favorite NBA team’s mascot, Clutch of the Houston Rockets, as well as an honorary degree handed over in a special graduation ceremony.

Still, Brown’s classmates went ahead with another ambition for their friend. “We would ask all of your viewers to [Tweet] #DrakeForKen so we can get him to come see her or send something for her because that would mean the world to her,” a fellow student said.

Yesterday, Drake apparently visited Brown and sent off a string of Instagram posts commemorating the surprise. “Me and this beautiful angel Kennedy #kenfordrake,” the rapper wrote as a caption in the first of several Instagram posts, inverting the original hashtag. “She asked to touch the brows #accessgranted,” he wrote on another post.
