Drake, the Global Ambassador for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, has announced that he has a job as a host for an upcoming sports-based award show. 

“Honored to be this year’s @ESPYS host @espn 7.16.2014 #ESPYS #NWTS,” Drake said in a Twitter post today (April 9). 

This year’s ESPYS are set to take place July 16 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, according to ESPN. The ceremony is scheduled to be televised live at 9pm EST on ESPN.

The event raises more than $1 million annually for The V Foundation, a charitable organization created to promote cancer research. The V Foundation was founded by Jim Valvano, a basketball coach who passed away from cancer in 1993. 

“This is an incredible opportunity for me to combine two of my biggest passions—sports and performing,” Drake says in a press release.

Connor Schell, vice president, ESPN Films and Original Entertainment, also addresses Drake’s role in the ESPYS.
