Lil Wayne, who says he is working on Tha Carter V, recently spoke about the potential for this to be his last album release as a solo artist.  

“I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes, and it’s definitely the final Carter album,” Lil Wayne says in an interview with MTV. “It’s the final Carter album. It’s stopping at five. I didn’t smile when I said it.” 

Lil Wayne, who says “25 to 35 million” dollars would entice him to make another solo album after Tha Carter V, also says this won’t be the last time he records material.  

“I plan on it being my final solo album,” Wayne reiterates. “Whenever I have to pitch in for a Young Money album, a Like Father, Like Son album and something like that and maybe something out the blue, but the way I’m working on this album, it’s to me, the way it seems like now,it seems like  it’ll be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else.”

In June 2013, Lil Wayne spoke about retirement plans retirement plans.

“My next album isn’t Tha Carter V because I think I have to work on other albums with my pop Birdman and things like that,” Wayne said at the time. “But, after Tha Carter V, I hope I can retire.” 

Lil Wayne and the rest of the Young Money camp released Rise Of An Empire Tuesday (March 11). The album earned a 2.5 out of 5 in its HipHopDX review. “Where We Are Young Money portrayed the label as one big Playboy-Mansion-style party, Empire offers a gloomy portrait of a house divided,” HipHopDX said in its review
