In honor of the upcoming release of Rick Ross‘ new album, Mastermind, the Miami rapper stopped by a handful of clubs including Chamblee, Georgia’s Velvet Room to celebrate, but according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Ross’ Velvet Room visit ultimately ended in gunfire.
The newspaper reports that an unnamed DJ, who was allegedly working at the club during the night of the incident, was involved in a shootout between two off-duty police officers outside of the club around 4 A.M. this morning (March 3). Police were reportedly responding to shots fired behind the club when they were confronted by the DJ who then began to fire at them.
Police then returned fire, subsequently wounding the DJ in the leg. The DJ involved in the shooting was then transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
“For whatever unknown reasons, it appears that this DJ who was involved in the shooting with some others turned and shot at the officers, and that’s when they returned fire,” DeKalb Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander said. “They were doing what they were trained to do…they took all the necessary actions to protect themselves and each other.”

It is currently unclear if Ross or any of the other celebrity attendees were present during the shooting, which took place after club hours. In addition to the Maybach Music Group founder, the Velvet Room event was also hosted by Diddy.
Diddy’s appearance at Velvet Room comes only hours after a party the Bad Boy Records founder and Atlanta rapper Future hosted in Charlotte, North Carolina during the weekend of the CIAA (Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) basketball tournament.
According to AllHipHop.com, two people were shot in the leg while attending the party held at the Sheraton Charlotte Hotel early Sunday (March 2).
