T-Pain says in an interview published on vladtv.com today (January 22) that Kanye West recorded a diss track toward him while they were making 808s & Heartbreak together.

“He came up with this song for me, and it wasn’t a good song,” T-Pain says during the vladtv.com interview. “It was basically describing how wack my ideas was that I was coming up with. And he made everybody in the studio join in with him to sing like, ‘T-Pain’s shit is weak.’”

T-Pain says the unreleased song was “pretty lyrical” and that he thought it would be released. “I actually thought he should have put that on the record at some point,” he said. “But it would have been a diss record. I thought that was pretty fucked up.”

Earlier this month, T-Pain said in an interview with DJ Vlad that the similarities between Rappa Ternt Sanga and 808s & Heartbreak and the lack of credit he received as the originator of the Auto-Tune technique once Ye’s album was released left him feeling unappreciated.

“I respect that shit, but it’s like the praise that he got from it was like, ‘Oh my God, this is so creative. This is the new shit. This is the shit,’” T-Pain said. “And I’m like, ‘Well, what happened in 2005 when I dropped Rappa Ternt Sanga and it was the same album. That’s kind of weird.’ You know what I’m saying. It just felt like I was unappreciated and anything like that. Any originator of anything is gonna be the lesser-known because it’s the newest thing and that’s just not—it’s not right, but that’s just how shit goes.”
