OutKast will be hitting the road and touring this spring/summer for the first time in over half a decade, headlining numerous festivals including this year’s Coachella.
A big OutKast fan growing up, Wiz Khalifa recently sat down with MTV and talked about listening to the Atlanta-based group in his childhood years and recalls sharing a lot of those memories with his mother.
“My favorite memories of OutKast definitely come from my mom because she played so much of their music and it wasn’t like they were old to me because OutKast was hella relevant but it was like my mom loved OutKast as much as I did so it tripped my out because we could share that CD,” Wiz Khalifa said reflecting on OutKast’s influence on him. “We shared a lot of CDs but that was one of her favorite ones and then when they started elevating their minds and doing other things, she was a part of that whole movement so it helped me to grow with it too.”
Wiz will be performing at the same festival as the famous rap duo when they both will hit the stage in May during the MTV-sponsored Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Pittsburgh rapper says he’s excited to see them live for the first time.

“I’ve never got a chance to see OutKast live, ever,” he said when asked about the festival. “It’s really good seeing them working together and providing this experience with fans and people who’ve been wanting to see them for years and years and years so, it was bound to happen.”
OutKast’s last album release was in 2006 with Idlewild. They haven’t toured together since promoting the movie soundtrack and will hit the road in 2014 in a reunion tour with over 40 dates.
