Always one step ahead, Missy Elliott’s new reality show “The Road to Stardom With Missy Elliott” is said to bring viewers an idea of what it’s really like to make it in the music business. Slated to appear on UPN midseason the show features several contestant’s performing several challenges while on tour with Missy (during her recent tour with Beyonce, and Alicia Keys) to reach the grand prize of a record deal on her Gold Mind Label. Separating her show from others before her, contestants on the show were kept under 24 hour surveillance.

Along with the judges, Teena Marie, Dallas Austin and Missy herself, guest appearances will be made by Madonna, Busta Rhymes and Jermaine Dupri. “My road to stardom was a whole different ball game. I didn’t have money and cars to be able to take us around town. These kids had it hard, but it could get harder than what you see on the show. I don’t think the challenges on the show were hard to do.” Missy Elliott told Billboard, that people auditioning in the mindset that they were appearing on America Idol were quickly informed, “they were auditioning for the wrong show. What I was specifically looking for was, of course, somebody with talent. And it’s not necessarily that they have to be the best singer or the best MC. It has to be something about them, like character, where they have a way of [making] a believer out of you.” The show will be on UPN Wednesday’s at 8pm.
