Kendrick Lamar says that he’s happy to be nominated for Album Of The Year at the Grammys.

“That’s crazy that it’s even in that [nomination] because that album is a really raw album,” Kendrick Lamar says of his good kid, m.A.A.d. city album during an interview with Power 106. The Compton, California rapper performed with his TDE crew at yesterday’s (December 14) “Cali Christmas” concert, which was held at the Honda Center at Anaheim, California. “It’s not too much crossover, so for them to even put it in that light, that’s a win by itself,” Kendrick Lamar adds. “So if I take it home, [that will be] even more of a crazy feeling.”

Kendrick Lamar earned seven Grammy nominations in all, including Best Rap Album. His “Swimming Pools (Drank)” is up for Best Rap Performance and K Dot is also up for Best New Artist.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards is scheduled to be held January 26, 2014 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show is set to be broadcast on CBS at 8 pm EST.

Kendrick Lamar performed with fellow Black Hippy members Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q at “Cali Christmas” yesterday. The TDE crew’s 52-minute set included them performing together and delivering solo selections, as per hiphop-n-more. Diddy also joined the crew on stage.

“It feels good, man,” Kendrick Lamar said before his performance at “Cali Christmas” yesterday. “It’s family and ya’ll family, so it’s really just like a big get-together. It feels great. I’ve got some of the best fans, some of the best family, the best radio station. It’s important to me. That’s who I owe it to at the end of the day.”
