Kid Capri is set to release a mixtape featuring battle rappers, according to the deejay.

“Yeah, it’s coming out real good,” Capri said in an interview with xxlmag.com. “I am doing all the beats on there. I just wanted to go and get all the battle rappers. I shot a battle rappers joint three years ago with Loaded Lux, before I even knew it was going to be a big deal. It happened to be big. Now, this is where we at. So I wanted to get all the battle rappers. The top-tier battle rappers and put them on my beats just to show the world that the battle rappers can make good records instead of getting that stigma that they can’t. A lot of battle rappers can make records, such as Meek Mill, KRS-One. They did it, so it’s only right we show them what they can do.”

In May, Loaded Lux, who is known for battling, among other things, spoke with HipHopDX about criticism that battle rappers can’t create worthwhile music. Lux said he does not shy away from the “battle rapper” label, but instead embraces it

“The beauty of life is you can always change things,” he said of the criticism regarding battle rappers. “It’s always forever changing. With me, as far as I’m concerned, I embrace all that I am, all that I do because it is me. You can’t just take one aspect of me. You’ve got to take it all. I ain’t got no problem with that. These are things that I’ve achieved, and these is my accolades. Yeah, I battle rap. You can put me in that category, if you want. There’s more to me than that. Like me or love me for whatever it is, but at the end of the day, they sayin’ something and they sayin’ something from the essence. I’ll never deny that, dispute that or try to be something other than myself.”

Capri has not confirmed names of battle rappers set to appear on his upcoming project.
