Although Run-DMC is no longer on the performing circuit, DMC plans to step back up to the mic with a new solo album and a movie deal. After getting screen time in “Tougher Than Leather”, DMC plans to bring his own style of hip-hop to movies when he produces his first film. “It’s gonna be about rap before rap records were ever made. Before rappers were even thinkin’ bout making records, before rappers even thought it would leave the corner. It’s gonna be deep”, DMC told MTV. Though the script isn’t complete DMC’s album is.
“Checks, Thugs, and Rock n’Roll” is DMC’s blend of hip-hop and rock and roll with guest appearances ranging from Kid Rock to Dough E. Fresh. “It’s rap-rock at its fullest, but a little more mature. I ain’t rapping about things I rapped about when I was 25. I’m 40 years old now so I gotta talk about things I do when I’m 40 so people don say, “This guy’s faking”. Although many people will be wondering how DMC will perform without Jam Master Jay and Run, DMC himself is a little weary about doing it solo. “I’m scared to death without Run and Jay. Oh my god-I’m scared to death. But I’m gonna do it. I’m just gonna act like they’re there”. DMC’s album will hit stores later this year.
