Marco Polo recently spoke about his “G.U.R.U.” tribute track for Gang Starr’s Guru. The selection features Talib Kweli and DJ Premier.

“This is one of the most important records I’ve ever been a part of” Marco Polo said in a press release. “Thank you to Talib Kweli and DJ Premier for being a part of this incredible record. Please help share this record and celebrate the life of an artist who influenced me and so many others in Hip Hop and music period. R.I.P. Keith Edward Elam, G.U.R.U., Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal.”

Guru’s sister, Trish Elam, commented on the track’s significance.

“The Elam family is so deeply grateful that Guru is being honored three-years after his death,” Trish Elam said in a press release. “He wanted to be remembered and to do so in such a magnanimous way is so monumental to us. This is the dream and the legacy that he would have wanted and we are so appreciative of that. These are the words that he manifest.”
