Twenty years into their career, TLC’s members are still making waves.

On Tuesday (October 15), T-Boz and Chilli sat for an interview on “Good Morning America.” The duo was joined by Keke Palmer, Lil Mama, and Drew Sidora, the actresses slated to play the group in the VH1 Biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.

T-Boz addressed the film, on which she and Chilli executive produced.

“It means so much,” T-Boz said. “We could be in the kitchen cookin’, and we see the commercial, and we stop and go, ‘That’s us! Oh my God,’ like it never happened for us before, so it’s just like a dream come true.”

Chilli spoke about Lil Mama’s star turn as the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. “First of all, when we saw her audition tape, we were like, ‘Okay, that’s it. She’s the one.’ When she gets in character, with the dark contacts, we were talking to her sometimes, and it’s like, ‘Ooh.’ It was strange for us sometimes. It freaked us out a little bit.”

T-Boz and Chilli also spoke about 20, TLC’s fifth album, which commemorates the group’s 20th year as a group. “This album is like going down memory lane, from the beginning of our career to present day,” said T-Boz of the project. “It ends with a new song that Ne-Yo wrote called ‘Meant to Be,’ because we always said it was an ‘MTB thing,’ it was meant to be. It’s like a song that wraps up our twenty-year history together in one song.”

“It really pulls at your heartstrings,” added Chilli.

TLC has been active as of late, appearing on J. Cole’s single “Crooked Smile,” in addition to working on the film and their album. The group was especially popular in the ’90s, with a diamond-certified album in 1994’s CrazySexyCool, and the six-times platinum follow-up, 1999’s FanMail.
