Whether its fans or label heads, many people have high expectations for Drake’s next album, Nothing Was the Same.

However, in an interview with MTV, Drizzy revealed that he’s not one of them.

“Best advice I ever got is: No expectations lead to no disappointments. So I have no expectations,” he explained.

“Really, just more than September 24, I’m just excited whenever people get the music,” continued Drake. “The numbers, the sales, all that stuff it’s cool. I’m sure I’ll get into it on the day like, ‘How much did we sell,’ trying to figure it out, but aside from that, I’m just excited for people to hear the full body of work.”

The Toronto emcee described the project as a labor of love. “It’s been a long time in the making; it’s been about a year and a half. Just maneuvering through features and trying to figure out which records to give away, which records to sort of keep for myself. I’m excited to see if I did the right thing or not. I think I did. I love it.”

“The whole purpose of the album is for it to last. I think with Take Care I still hear records from Take Care now… we’re coming on two years,” he said. “I just want this album to have that same lasting power.”
