Talk of a new Big Tymers album has remained relatively heavy following this year’s announcement of a reunion project from the famed New Orleans group and although a Big Tymers reunion album seems certain, those involved in the creation of the project still remain unclear.

In May, Birdman revealed news of a reunion album and to the criticism of a number of fans he stated that producer and former Big Tymers member Mannie Fresh would not be involved and the group would instead consist of Young Money artists Lil Wayne and Drake.

Drake recently shared his thoughts on the Big Tymers project with MTV News and despite not being fully aware of what his involvement with the album may be; he confirmed that he will be involved in some way.

“I didn’t get the phone call about that, but I mean, I’m sure I’ll be involved…I would have loved to bring the Big Tymers out tonight too. It would have been crazy. Maybe we’ll save that for next year. But yeah, Mannie Fresh is an incredible guy musically and of course Birdman is one of a kind,” Drake revealed.

During his interview, Drake laughed off criticism from those unhappy with the announcement of a new Big Tymers group and assured fans that he’s more concerned with working on a new project as opposed to becoming a replacement Big Tymer.

“I think I heard about it or watched some of it but—and then I got like people being like, ‘You’ll never be a Big Tymer. Your shit is terrible.’ Just like going off on me,” said the Young Money rapper. “I’m not the one being like, ‘Oh, I’m a new Big Tymer.’ I’m down to work on anything. Birdman calls me to work on something, I’mma work on it.”
