From their new hit “Ch-Check It Out” to their heartfelt, “An Open Letter To NYC,” the Beastie Boys prove they can still deliver classic Beastie hits. Produced entirely by the group themselves and recorded on and off over the last two years in their own studio in downtown NYC, the Boys deliver 15 hardcore rock/rap tracks, and of course, more of their signature zany lyrics. “Holler back challah bread!” MCA‘s voice remains the most recognizable, Mike D still spits nonsensical and Adrock will always be the block-rocker.

Staying true to the old school, the Boys take it back on “Triple Trouble,” and sample LL Cool J (“3 The Hard Way”), EPMD (“Rhyme To Rhyme Well”) and Run DMC (“That’s It That’s All”). They get serious on “Time To Build,” on which they warn, “Stop building SUVs strung out on OPEC.” Most of the songs are light, however, ’cause the B-Boys, though older and more mature (what!??) like to have fun.

The “Ch-Check It Out” video was directed by longtime collaborator Nathaniel Hornblower (“Intergalactic,” “Body Movin’,” “So What ‘Cha Want”) and features cameos by Lorne Greene and DeForest “Bones” Kelley. The Beastie Boys will be playing Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo on August 7 and starting a world tour soon.
