It has been 22 years since Brooklyn, New York trio 3rd Bass released an album. The group of MC Serch, Prime Minister Pete Nice and DJ Daddy Rich (f/k/a DJ Richie Rich) were gold-certified stars of Def Jam Records in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Thirteen years since they released the comeback “Hail To The Chief” single, the trio will reunite tonight (July 12) in Brooklyn at SRB.
According to a show announcement at Mass Appeal, the Produce Of The Environment concert (taking its name from a Cactus Album single) will also feature Mr. MFN eXquire, World’s Fair, B.I.C., DJ Boogie Blind, and hosting by Arsonists member D-Stroy.
Following 3rd Bass’ less than amicable break-up in the early 1990s, both Serch and Pete Nice released solo projects with Def Jam Records. Serch would also find success as an executive with Wild Pitch Records and his own Serch Lite Management, and work closely with Nas, O.C., and Non-Phixion. Pete Nice, who remained working with Richie Rich, and helped introduce Kurious and Cage on his 1993 album, Dust To Dust.
As a group, the trio worked extensively with K.M.D., Prince Paul and The Bomb Squad.
