Jay-Z Says “The Love Is Still There” For Dame Dash

Jay-Z took what were assumed to be veiled shots at former Roc-A-Fella Records partner Dame Dash on his 2006 single “Lost Ones.” Today, (July 9), the Brooklyn rapper says during an interview with New York radio station Hot 97 that their work together was historical and that he still has love for his former partner.

“What we built, you can’t take that away,” Jay-Z says during the interview. “No matter what, no time or space. No matter how many years I ain’t seen him, the love is still there because what we’ve done will forever be stamped in history. We created something that’s going to go down forever. I can only have love for Damon.”

Jay-Z also spoke on a potential reunion with Dash without being provoked. “I just don’t know where we are in our life,” Jigga says. “Are we the same two young men at that time? Will we gel in that way? We were two different people. I haven’t seen him in a while. I can’t remember when was the last time.”

Dame Dash recently posted a Vine of him listening to Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, an experience he called “bittersweet.” Dame Dash was recently hit with a $2.8 million tax lien and has had financial problems for several years.

Jay-Z says that he doesn’t regret their falling out and that he has confidence in Dame Dash. “In life, I can’t control everything, all the things in life,” Jay-Z says during the Hot 97 interview. “I have ultimate confidence in him that he’ll find his way ’cause he’s an amazing and really smart guy…He’s a hustler and he’s highly intelligent, so I always root for him and always believe that he’ll find his way out of it.”

      1. You guys do realize Dame probably had over 50 million at one point. He made close to 20 million just on Rocafella clothing. How is Jay going to help him anymore if Dame blew all his cash.

    1. The Roc had one of the hardest crews in the game. Checkout thegrandreport, they have some cool entertainment news and videos on there too

      1. Same formula everytime. Say one relevant thing about the article, then “Check out my shitty website”

      2. he even dropped the dot com cause all his shit was getting deleted!

every fucking article like how much do they pay you for this shit they cant be getting any hits from your spam

    2. i don’t know what was the fall out truly about, but all i can say is DAME has open the door with his comments and jay has open it up more replying to it.. time will tell. but it will be something special to see them two dudes standing next to each other again

    3. Jay-Z used everyone he came in contact with to get where he is. Dame Dash, Big Daddy Kane…….to name two specifically…..He’s a scumbag

      1. Sauce Money
        Jaz O
        Foxy Brown
        Dame Dash
        Biggs
        DJ Premier
        Memphis Bleek
        Kanye West
        Young Gunz (Chris & Neef)
        Beanie Sigel
        Nas’s mother’s death..

        Yea..to name a few..

      2. He used Young Gunz (Chris & Neef)??

just because we was affiliated with people in the past doesnt mean he used them. Jay Z is a business man who ran a record label with Damon Dash. Some of these people who you named are merely artist on that label. Are you friends with ALL your co workers? If one of your co workers quit or lost their job, would you support them? then how is it any different for Jay? those people mentioned are business associates, except for Memphis Bleek who still rolls with Jay

      3. you’re fucking simple. Artist that were featured in songs with him or produced songs for him he ‘used’? Pretty sure all those people got paid for a fucking service, you dumb fuck.

    4. Really, and Jay-Z even says it in a slick way, why would they re-unite? He might have love for him, respect him…but all he was basically was a hype man, he negotiated contracts etc… Jay either does all that himself now, or has others that do it for him…. great era, great label..but just like Death Row it’s over and ain’t ever coming back.

      1. Are you dumb? You really think the artist negoiates those deals? Nigga GTFOH niggas clearly just naive & cluelss. No wonder why yall eat up images & hype so much.

    5. I know this has nothing to do with this post but does anybody know when Losos Way 2 is coming out? I thought it was coming out around this time and I havent heard anything about it.

      1. Kanye chose to go with Jay Z since Jay Z had a real record label.

Besides, i do think kanye wanted to be under Dash making 100 songs with Cam’Ron and Beanie Sigel

    6. they would reunite as to being in the same space, talking and reminiscing, throw some new ideas at the wall. you people really have no life I see…

    7. Dame Dash is a broke ass has bean… and Lil Wayne killed Jay-Z’s muzik career wit Tha Carter IV… Lil Wayne’s songs shit on everything Jay-Z did since 1996. swag

      1. Someone Whos A Gay

ill quote my boy from a few days ago

‘ i dont always chill with people with swag, but when i do im usually ordering a double cheeseburger with large fries and a soda” LOL losers

    8. Jay said in his most recent interview that hes bought the Rocafella label back from Universal. I think Dame had a point when he said the label should still stand and I think there is a possibility of them both Jay and Dame working together to get the label back on the map. They dont have to run it together like before but they should at least get it back on the map.

    9. WHY SHOULD JAY-Z GIVE HIM ANY EXTRA MONEY? DAME DASH MADE MILLIONS, THE FACT HE BLEW IT ALL IS NOT JIGGA’S FAULT, DAME SHOULD BE THANKFUL TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH HIM, JAY-Z WAS AND IS THE MAIN ACT OF ROC-A-FELLA FAMILY. AND WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT JAZ-O IN 2013 ANYWAY? JIGGA HAS ANOTHER ALBUM COMING OUT AND NO FINANCIAL PROBLEMS. THIS IS BECAUSE HE WORKS HARD AND MOST IMPORTANTLY – KNOW HOW TO HANDLE AND SAVE HIS MONEY.

      1. co sign. Jay Z earned his money and is not responsible for feeding another man’s family. Dash could’ve managed his money better and wouldnt be in his current situation.

If i remember right, Dash made a bunch of bad investments, not jay z’s fault

    10. Jay z never seems fazed by out the ass questions.people tend to open up more when they have life changing experience s cause there not the same person they were and that’s the whole point evolving so him and dame wouldn’t even look right cause they seem to be going in two different directions.cant hang on to that shit man it had its time.

    11. i cant rly feel bad for a man who was a multi millionair.. a dickhead who stunted on everyone poorer than him bec he felt he was a god..now hes broker than broke is broke… welcome to the real world damn. and as a present here..

    12. In other words, We all made good money and I ain’t giving him shit. He smart enough to dig himself out and I ain’t giving him shit!
It ain’t Jigga fault Dash blew his money away! It ain’t Jigga responsabilty to feed nikkas who fucked there money up!

    13. I can’t remember Dame being such a bad guy…I remember him giving all that advice

And jay z and his success is most definitely the House that Dame built period.

      1. I heard motherfuckers saying they made Hov
Made Hov say, “Ok so, make another Hov”
Niggas wasn’t playing they day role
So we parted ways like Ben and J-Lo

    14. It’s hard to give a nicca 2.5mill but I will try… But he need to come up with some idea as a smart Hommie.

      Hov!

      1. false! if it wasn’t for dash jay wouldn’t be where he’s at now and kanye would probably be underground and unnoticed (which would prolly be a good thing lol)
